Dance became my way home – to my body, to myself, to life.
After many years in the corporate world, a sudden personal loss literally knocked me off my feet. My legs refused to carry me on as before. In my recovery I found Kundalini Yoga. The structure of the kriyas, the power of pranayama, and the depth of meditation opened a new connection to strength and stillness. I became a Kundalini Yoga teacher-and yet, something was missing.
When conscious dance later crossed my path, I knew immediately: this is it, I had found the missing piece: freedom! My own movement in a structure! Listening and following what is alive and true within me in that moment. The dance floor became my laboratory, a space to explore and give myself to the process: awareness of patterns, comfort zones, challenges; acceptance; letting go; opening space for new; playfulness; connections; again and again awareness and choice and at the same time trust – trust, that at some point the dance will take over and work its magic.
My dance journey had started with 5Rhythms, and through a retreat in Turkey I came in touch with freedomDANCE. Ever since, this comparably small school has felt like a family.
What I love about the practice is its simplicity and physicality: the easy structure of a freedomDANCE cycle: opening, transformation and freedom, using the body as gateway. When I teach, my intention is to create a safe, open, and welcoming space for (self-)exploration and for what is, for what wants to leave and what wants to evolve. I hold the space with grounded presence, offering invitations rather than directions — it’s your dance, your journey. Alongside freedomDANCE, I work as an artist and embodiment coach, study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and am on my way to becoming an alternative practitioner.
As said, for me, freedomDANCE is not only a practice – it’s a way of meeting life with curiosity, honesty, and an open heart, a place to return to myself again and again.
