I’ve always been fascinated by what helps us know who we are — and live from that truth. My life has been a dance between intellect and intuition, between a love for research and a fascination with physicality, between the precision of the mind and the wisdom of the body.

Before I became a full-time dance meditation teacher in 2009, I earned my Ph.D., taught at university level, and worked as a researcher and manager at McKinsey & Company and other leading organisations. I loved that world — the creativity of ideas and the thrill of insight. But my body was asking for something else too. Years of chronic neck pain led me to explore dance meditation and conscious movement.

When I stepped onto a dance floor in my first dance meditation class, something in me recognised home. Two years of regular practice released the pain that had stayed with me for nearly a decade — and revealed a much deeper kind of freedom.

Guided by masters like Gabrielle Roth and Anna Halprin, I discovered that dance could be meditation in motion — a meeting with life itself. In 2009, I created freedomDANCE, a practice open to everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level. Since then, I’ve taught thousands of hours of classes, workshops, and retreats — from large, buzzing urban dance floors to hospitals and care homes. And since 2014, I’ve been training others to teach this work through the freedomDANCE Teacher Training.

Today, after all these years, freedomDANCE is still not just a curriculum or a business. Before anything else, it is my own living, breathing practice — a way to taste freedom in every cell of the body. Freedom for the body to take over. Freedom for the mind to rest. Freedom to open to something larger than ourselves, to share who we truly are. Each freedomDANCE cycle is a journey into presence, where movement becomes meditation and where it becomes clear that life itself is a dance.

When I dance, I reconnect with what is best in the world — harmony, peace, acceptance — and with the simple joy of being alive. I teach because I believe that this freedom is not reserved for a few — it belongs to all of us.
