WHAT IS freedomDANCE
Our practice is
a dance and conscious movement meditation
When practicing dance meditation, we learn to listen to our own bodies and switch off our endless stream of thoughts. Conscious movement brings us joy, restores inner balance, helps awaken the intuitive wisdom of the body, and lets us act spontaneously in accordance with our true selves.
There are no instructions or choreography in our dance practice. We move as our bodies tell us to. We are supported by music, teacher’s invitations, and the group energy.
Our freedomDANCE classes are open to anyone who is willing to move in search of harmony with oneself. There is no requirement of any specific level of physical shape, endurance, dancing skills or age. Atmosphere of kindness and acceptance and special techniques of working with the body help everyone to find their unique dance.
ROOTS OF THE PRACTICE
ALEX SVOBODA
Conscious movement practice freedomDANCE appeared in 2010. Alex Svoboda created this practice, inspired by the experience of his teachers of conscious movement around the world such as Anna Halprin, Gabrielle Roth and their closest students.
Alex has come a long way in making freedomDANCE an internationally recognised practice: our teachers facilitate dance meditation classes and workshops in various countries around the world and are all certified by the International Conscious Movement Teachers Association (ICMTA).
Alex actively teaches freedomDANCE and regularly shares his experience with students at his teacher training courses.
Alex shares his experience in his books, where he provides deep scientific and statistical research, visually showing the FRUITS that/span>freedomDANCE practice brings.
